Guy Fawkes Day - 5th of November

Yesterday was Guy Fawkes Day, which has been celebrated every Nov. 5 in Great Britain.

Guy Fawkes was part of a group of men who wanted to blow up the Houses of Parliament in London but he was caught red-handed with the explosives!
Guy Fawkes wasn't even the ringleader, but has become the one we remember most.
All this happened in 1605, more than 400 years ago, and nowadays we call the story the Gunpowder Plot.
After Guy Fawkes was captured he was imprisoned in the Tower of London where many people think he was tortured during his questioning.
Guy Fawkes and many of his fellow plotters were executed.

Nowadays, people celebrate Guy Fawkes Day by lighting fireworks and bonfires. But yesterday, inspired on the film V for Vendetta , about a masked rebel named V who fights a fascist future British government,
several hundred protesters wearing masks gathered outside the British Parliament to mark Guy Fawkes night.
